HALIFAX – 21 February 2018
The Board of Directors of ISANS (Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia) has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Jennifer Watts will assume that role on April 1, 2018.
Watts, who is currently the Director of Settlement and Integration, is a trained Urban and Rural Planner with a background in community development and municipal issues, and has served as a municipal councillor on Halifax Regional Council. She has lived overseas in Central America and the Middle East.
Watts is taking over the leadership of ISANS at an exciting time when there is extensive support for immigration from all levels of the community and when the organization, itself, is experiencing unprecedented growth, according to a Press statement. “She is a proven and respected leader in the community with an effective, thoughtful voice that is both heard and valued,” it adds. “Given the importance of immigration in Nova Scotia, ISANS has firm confidence in Jennifer’s wisdom, leadership and unquestionable passion to help define our future as a province.”
Watts said, she is very honoured and excited to take on this new role. “I work with an incredible staff team and look forward to building on ISANS’ strengths as we work with newcomers and partners in creating a more welcoming and inclusive province.”
ISANS is the leading deliverer of settlement services in Atlantic Canada and provides the full range of programs and services along the settlement and integration continuum to 5000+ clients annually.
